Hi! My name is Niki, and on Wednesday I am leaving for a 20-day meditation retreat. We are served nothing but vegetables, tofu, fruits, and rice. I am 9lbs overweight for my height (I weigh 155 and am 5' 4") and would like to eventually be 120 to 125. There is plenty of walking during this course, probably 1 to 4 miles a day. If I abstain from rice, how much weight can I be expected to lose during these 20 days? Thank you for your time! = )
first of all you really want to avoid "shocking" your body with a drastic change in diet. You dont want your body to think its being deprived. If your body thinks its being deprived it will store energy instead of releasing it, which is what you want it to do to release the extra pounds. Frankly at your size the only thing you should do is exersize. I wouldnt give up the rice for your retreat, EXPECIALLY if its brown rice. But what you could do is eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep your blood sugar levels even and exersize 2X a day to boost your metabolism. A LARGE reason we are getting fatter as a society is because we "diet" which is a temporary change and the end result is yo-yo weight changes. Loosing weight should be about small changes over a long period of time that result in lifestyle change to KEEP the weight off. Weight loss should be a SLOW process. Another suggestion, stay away from WHITE PROCESSED flour and sugar. (frankly I question all "PROCESSED" foods, the closer a food is to Gods intended shape the better it is for you.) Eating these things make you hungry in the long run. Also CAFFENE has the SAME affect on you as sugar does so that will ALSO make you hungry in the long run.
