what are the responsibilities of a squad leader in boot camp as a marine?

my boyfriend is in boot camp at the marines in paris island and he wrote me a letter and told me he became a squad leader, and he asked me to look on the internet and see what it says about being a squad leader, so what are the responsibilities of a squad leader in boot camp in the U.S marines?

Leadership positions in boot camp are really nothing. Once you graduate it ends there.

All it means is he is the one who takes orders from the guide and passes them on to his squad or something similar to this effect. He "looks after" his squad and is responsible for those in it.

I am willing to bet he is not the current squad leader because they fire them often in boot camp.
