Training for Marine Boot Camp!?
im training for marine boot camp. mostly for the fitness test you have to take near the end. I want to get 100 points (or the best score you can get)
which requires me to...
run 3 miles in 18 minutes
do 20 pullups
and 100 crunches in 2 minutes.
so far i can do the crunches, im up to 15 pullups. the running is the part im having the most trouble in. i use to be able to run a 5 minute mile. but its been a while, so i ran 3 miles today and timed at 21 minutes 30 seconds.
what kind of diet should i be eating, and what would be the best way to get a faster time. not just saying running, i want to know if anyone could recommend a weakly training routine or find one on a website. (couldnt find one)

Intervals once a week may help.
Find a track.
Run:
200 meters
400 meters
800 meters
1600 meters (mile)
1600

400 meters
200 meters
Run for speed. Modify as you see fit.
This Workout is a b***h so do it once per week and at the end of the week so that you can rest for the weekend. Rest is important. If you tear your body down and do not allow it to rebuild then you are training for nothing.
Eat a diet rich in carbohydtrates. Carbs allow you to store energy which will get you that second wind when you feel like you cant go any further.
Be sure to hydrate. At least 64 ounces of water each day and more if you are running in the heat or just feel thursty.
Drink one gatorade for every 32 ounces of water. This will replenish your electrolytes and prevent you from overhydrating which is fatal. SMART WATER is also good. It has electrolytes in it.
Talk to a Marine Recruiter also; they will be able to help.
Lastly, keep training. Over time you body will be more conditioned and your times will improve.
