Weight Loss Camp Vacation For Children

If you are a parent concerned about your overweight children or teenager, why not take them for a vacation at a weight loss camp. There are 2 benefits in this, firstly, you are on a vacation with your kids spending quality time together and at the same time able to educate your children or even yourself about permanent weight loss. Your family can thus live a healthy lifestyle and avoid the dangers of obesity diseases.

Every year, millions of children around the world leave home in search of exciting camping adventures. In America alone, a conservatively estimated 8.2 million children and teens went camping every summer.

In a national survey of more than 2,000 camps, camp directors reported that parents rated the three most important benefits for sending their children to camps. These factors are:-

a)increase self-confidence for the kids

b)to make new friends

c)for children to have fun from educational and wholesome activities

"Summer camp is more than a vacation for children," says Bruce Muchnick, a licensed psychologist specializing in child and adolescent development. "At the camps, children and teens learn to appreciate the outdoors, develop companionship and pick up skills that enhance self-reliance, cooperation and interdependence. These skills will remain with them throughout childhood and into adulthood." That is a very way to develop skills for your children isn't it?

So if you are sending your children camping, why not send them to Weight Loss Camps if they are obese and learn healthy lifestyle skills and at the same time to let them enjoy themselves.

Weight loss camps can change your child's life

We all know that bad habits become too internalized to modify without major psychological and physical effort, thus spending a summer vacation in camps that specializes weight loss can make a huge difference in the lives of your overweight children.

Often, fat kids and teenagers get caught up in a vicious cycle since their social lives become more marginalized as their weight keep adding up. Some children will avoid overweight kids and even taunt and bully them. So overweight children seldom participate in social activities because they are unfit or ostracized and self-consciousness about their overweight appearance and this will lead to less physical activity. Since these children are less active, then the tendency to put on weight is even greater.

When an overweight child has normal weight siblings the stress on them will become even more unbearable. There will comparisons made on them which is a very traumatic and depressive for the child. This can lead to terrible permanent emotional scars.

At a good weight loss camp, children will be left out of any activities. The camps are usually structured in such a way so that everyone has to join in its fun programs and social activities. Since these fat kids usually opt out of activities, their choice should be between camp activities, not whether they join in or not.

Children will be exposed to many sports and taught athletic skills in a non-competitive environment. There will also be enrichment programs arts & crafts, confidence building and team building to help them integrate into the society. They will also be taught how to choose healthy and balanced meals and nutritional facts. The benefits from a vacation at a weight loss camp will last a lifetime.

Need sponsers for my childs weight loss camp, what charitys are out there?

My little girl has medical prblems which has caused her to have weight gain and her self esteem needs a lift. I have tried so many different things and i was referred to contact Camp Shane which is for children dealing with these life struggles. The major problem with that is the price to go to this camp. I need to know of Charitys or sponsers to help us. I am a single mom and i work very hard but i dont have the extra funds to do this for my child. Please dont belittle me in any answers for i'm only reaching out for help for my little girl.

My daughter has cystic fibrosis...so we are getting to be old pros at fundraising. The easiest and least confrontational method that we have used has been letter writing campaigns. Write out a letter that lets people know who you are and what you need. Be personal but not too personal. Tell about the camp and what a great thing it will be for her and what kind of positive changes it will bring about in her life. If she is old enough have her write at least part of the letter and make the copies in her handwriting...it makes it more personal to the people who will read it. When asking for money from people you don't know in this way it makes people much more confident if they are able to write out the check directly to the place that is going to recieve it (Camp Shane) rather than the person writing the letter. When you send out the letters include a self addressed and stamped envelope so that all they have to do is put the check in the mail...no looking for stamps or trying to find your address. Mail letters to all family, friends, local organizations, and don't forget places like Walmart (they write off charitible donations).

This is my favorite method for fundraising because it pains me to ask people for money personally. This is how we do the CF walk fundraising every year and this year we made $2000 this way.

After people send checks don't forget to send them thank you letters...you will be amazed at the people who show their generosity.
